Is this shit safe to use? I mean, this thing is exposure to the whole internet, what are chances that all the files will be stolen?

>I mean, this thing is exposure to the whole internet
What ?
>>56158758
>written in PHP
highly likely

>this thing is exposure to the whole internet,
only if you allow it to
>what are chances that all the files will be stolen?
unless you have some sort of highly importance job i'd say the risk is quite low
Just as safe as keeping your money in a bank.
use nextcloud it's not dying.
Change default port, force SSH and disable plain http, enable logging and enable it with fail2ban. That would make it a rather safe NAS solution.
I Nextcloud and my only open port is for my VPN.

Not that I am aware. I installed it via snappy in ubuntu but I'm learning now that it may be behind since a bug I found should be fixed by now.

>stolen
making a copy is no steal
ssl
a firewall
long passwords, >15 characters
fail2ban
Nothing is 100% safe

>Access & share your files, calendars, contacts, mail & more from any device
So it is basically a shitty FOSS version of MS Exchange with the world cloud in it so it can be trendy?
>>56160470
I might have to throw it in a vm then

Elaborate? Interested.

That's how I'm running it right now.
For anyone else who is running it. How can I monitor the HDD storage space it's using?

Owncloud is really shitty. If you only need to sync your files you could use Syncthing instead. It's great.
