Recently bought an x230. It's kind of slow using google chrome on windows 7. Would upgrading to windows 10 help? Would using a different browser like firefox help?
Install more ram or pick a broswer that uses less ram like firefox

Probably a little, 10's performance is a bit better, but I wouldn't do it because 10 is dogshit.

is right, Chrome is a fucking memory hog. Put more in, or use Firefox.

What are your specs, OP? I have an x220t and everything runs quite lovely!

It's ok for me on x201, i think x220 and even x230 should be superior.
Upgrading to Gnu/Linux would help immensely.
1. No
2. Install an SSD

have x230, but not the gimpiest version...
Bought used from Ebay, 8Gig RAM, 2.6GHz i5 and a cheap 240gig SSD, using with Win8 and Ubuntu dualboot, both run very nice and boot is well below 30s...
Get an SSD if you don't have one.
I bought a 12" chink 2-in-1 tablet with winblows 10.
It has an atom x5-z8300 which isn't very powerful. What I've found is that Edge unfortunately is the best performing browser with these specs. It's easier on ram, easier on the CPU and general browsing and scrolling is a LOT smoother than either Chrome or Firefox.
I will try out some more browsers over the next few days and see what the deal is because I wouldn't mind avoiding Edge if I can.
