Why don't you use full disk encryption? Remember thumbnails and temp files store sensitive data.

For a laptop? Sure.

For my desktops? Nope.

You use encryption to prevent others from accessing your sensitive data. If someone gets physical access to my desktop then I have bigger security problems.

Better safe than sorry. Anyone can rob a house in just a few minutes.
>>
h-how can i do that
>>
I don't want to have to enter the password for my encryption and then the password for my user everytime I turn on the computer to protect nothing of any value
>>
>>56139247
Easiest way is to install linux and select it in the installation.
>>
>>56139264
You can set the os to auto login.

If someone breaks into my apartment and robs me then I'm fucked. I really don't own expensive stuff. The only thing of value would be my personal info which can be found my file cabinets.

Encrypting my HDD will not un-fuck me in the event of a breakin. There is no advantage to encrypting my drives. Maybe you could make the case if I had roommates.

Because I don't do anything that would require it. I'm a good, moral person.

I do on my laptop, a portable HDD and my phone (Nexus 4). Not on my desktop, no reason to.

Why? There is nothing wrong with TrueCrypt to replace it. Read that page
>>
>>56139377
It's deprecated and no longer can provide security updates.
>>
>>56139384
>security updates
Well, there are no security issues to begin with.

Come back when the audit has completed.
