Why is it that when you load a large image in the browser and then save it, it re-downloads the image? The image is right there in the browser, why is there no way to simply take the data that it just served you and save it?
Don't know about the others but nightly does that.

It doesn't though. You're probably not downloading a large enough image to notice the time difference.
Open this file, let it load fully, and then save it and note that it takes awhile:

I can disable the Internet connection and it still saves instantly(if I right click on the image and click "save as"). Clicking "save as" on a link downloads it again obviously, because the content of the link could have changed.
