>First week of cs class
>teacher just talks about understanding bits and binary and some python
>take the quiz and score an 85%
>already done with week 1 on my first day
>just gotta skim thru my python book all week
I thought cs was hard. seems like this is gonna be easy lads
>>56097720
>CS
>Hard
Nope. CS is filled with idiots who think a CS degree is what they want to do because they like video games and think they can design them or because they used Ubuntu once.
GENTOO!
>>56097720
>expecting week 1 to be hard
CS doesn't really get hard until year 2 or 3
> i am so smart

>first week of first cs class
>expecting it to be hard
I bet you go to a state school as well.
>>56097720
>1 week
wew lad
you're in for some pain
>>56097720
>getting an 85% on your first test
>a flat B
>on the first fucking test
smells like failure to me
I was an advisor at my school.
60% of CS freshmen dropped out before the end of their sophomore year; the vast majority were because they couldn't pass their first data structures course.
>>56097903
shit I hope that doesn't happen too me. I wouldn't get a refund
>>56097903
This is true for most STEM degrees.
Even at something like biomedical lab engineer, Mathematics.
>>56097903
>data structures
Useless shit that have already been implemented a million times.
>>56097720
>python
why are they teaching python as a first language?
>>56097768
>CS doesn't really get hard until year 2 or 3
This >>56097720. Wait for algorithms, operating systems, and programming languages. Then come back and say it's easy.
All the IT stuff in CS is piss easy. I keep falling back on all the math because I'm too lazy to learn it.

foundation of understanding computational complexity

So when would you use a primitive array vs a list? Why would you use the one you picked? Could tradeoffs for these structures exist in other languages besides the one you're using now?
>>56098103
They first go through the basics, some guys never touched a computer ya know.
Even know one fag here in my non-country Belgium who didn't even know basic English.
>>56097903
>first data structures course
I took data structures twice (single course at the school I attended). The first time I found it boring as fuck, since we weren't doing anything user facing with it. Second time around was still hard, but at least I understood more of it.

Do you guys know any good data structure books? I already passed it, but I feel like it was undeserved since our teacher was a tenure who didn't give a shit and our book was full of typos.
The book has a 2.5 star on amazon....
