Have you installed any Linux distros for tech illiterate friends

Mint for my uncle.

He begged me to install windows again but I just told him to get used to Linux and he's ok with it now.

It's a 5/6 year crappy pc so Linux runs very nicely and I don't have to worry with all the virus he might get from looking at porn.

I installed Lubuntu on my parents 10 year old PC. It runs much nicer than XP and they don't complain about it being slow either

Someone has shilling deepin os and decided to check out thought it was easy to use and it could be made to look like Windows quickly installed it on my neighbor's laptop haven't had a problem since.

Installing Xubuntu in dualboot with Win7 right now for my uncle. On a Thinkpad X201 recommended by me.

ime tech illiterate people like linux much more than the people with an illusion of competence. the former will just install ubuntu like sane people and the latter will find some meme distro ran from someones basement and then whine about how it was so much work.

Did the same (an old Pentium 4), but they kept asking to have windows XP and Word 2003 back.

Eventually got them a new computer (after three semi succesful years with that old crap) with the botnet on it, I refer to my brother if they need computer help.

Eventually you just grow tired of normies and their stupid questions.

It's more pain than it's worth. Just pirate Windows 7 and call it.

Otherwise you'll end up playing tech support "why can't I run this exe file, where is microsoft office, how do I install chrome, nothing works" etc etc

My aunt and uncle hosed their XP box one too many times so in 2011 I forced them to take linux or fuck off. They've been running xfce mint ever since. I install the new iso every 2 years.
They love it, especially now that they've seen how their neighbors are always taking their shit in for hundreds of dollars.
