Hey /g/
Can you suggest a laptop for me? I'm beginning an M.S. in Applied Statistics in the fall. Current machine is a 2009 MBP but the battery is shot and I'd like to get some more under the hood. Basically looking for something that would be able to easily handle intense mathematical computing and some programming (R, SAS, Python, possibly others). Might also be playing some games on it but that is definitely not the priority, nor is it close to important. Budget max would be $1500 ish but I'd like to keep it as much under $1200 as I can, if possible. Needs to be a laptop for portability, at least 15" screen.
Thanks!

You only need to spend $300 max on a thinkpad, then you've got $1200+ to spend on hookers and blow.

get an IPS screen whatever you do. And it sounds like you could use an i7 with at least 8gb+ of ram.
