Need your wizard wisdom /g/.

Recently bought myself Samsung USB 3.0 Flash Drive DUO 64GB, main purpose is to collect all my vidya to emulate and play on the tablet during long trips.
One end regular USB the other micro USB for connecting with smartphones, tablets and the likes.

Now, regular USB works ok however when I connect to my android tablet via micro USB, it gets rather hot pretty fast, even if I am not doing anything.
Does android rape USB drives via constant read write or something?
I tried to search for this behaviour but cant find anything.

Install gentoo in it

Now all womyn in STEAM will be mine.

Android scans any new filesystem it encounters to index your files and show them in crappy file managers explorers. So after a while it should stop aka cool down to reasonable temperature.

The fact it is hot is normal until it burns through your pocket and later skin.

But for this use you wanted sd card. And if your tablet meme device doesn't support sd cards, then the impractical usb hanging nonstop from your device is your destiny.

>Trying to scan trough 64GB of retro vidya.
That explain why it is still hot even after an hour.
Heats up almost instantly, not hot enough to become uncomfortable but enough to think "thats weird".

I read that files on NAND types of memory can become corrupted just from read operation.
Any idea whether this constant indexing every time I put it in will effect longevity of a drive or fuck up everything majorily?
Can I somehow turn it off?

>And if your tablet meme device doesn't support sd cards, then the impractical usb hanging nonstop from your device is your destiny.
It does support micro SD but its kinda cheap thing I got for new year and it supports card up to 32 GB only, USB is better in that regard.
In fact its amazing this thing allowed me to play gran turismo 2 with epsxe 2.0.6 without a single dip in framerate
at the same time it lags when trying to emulate snes and sega on retroarch
I probably need to look into Nvidia shield K1 for handheld emulation or maybe psp.

I am afraid that even cyanogen can't help you in this matter. In fact, people have quite often different problem:
>you give files to card
>you unplug telephone / insert card
>where are my new files

So there are bunch of apps which forces Android to rescan folders so you can work with new files.

Also try this:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26279936/android-prevent-indexing-of-files-on-a-sd-card
>moving whatever you don't want indexed into the Android/data folder

But your best bet is to just wait. This is one of many Android design flaws.

Just now something occurred to me, pendrive got hot after a minute of use when I connected it first time empty.
So I dont think thats the case, I managed to google few cases of pendrives geting hot when used via micro usb but no clear case.

Not tech support, kys feg.

Damn, place changed since 2007.

>>56076427
Not really a tech support kind of thread, for whatever reason many dual usb drives heat up a lot when connected to smartphones and tablets via micro usb and no one know why.
>>
>>56073494
there was some way to do with .nomedia files or sth but i dont remember how. search it.
>>
>>56076494
Checked it out but I dont think thats gonna work reason being, when I just bough that pendrive I connected it to tablet to check whether it works and it was heating up after a minute.
It was empty so no fails to index.

I looked a bit and apparently its not a rare behaviour, it just weird they get hot when connected to an android device even when not in use.
