Hey /g/entlemen I'm looking to replace my iPad mini. It's works find and all but the limited memory is killing me. I mainly use it to play hearthstone/few games and read comics/mange and watch kodi on it. But because of HS I've run out of memory. So I'm looking for a decent android tablet that has expandable memory/good resolution and can handle games. I've been searching for this one but it seems sold out everywhere. Sorry for the blog post.

Anyone?
Can anyone tell me the difference between the Nvidia Shield and the Nvidia Shield K1?
How viable are they today?

The K1 is the same as the original minus the stylus. You can get both of them at ebay. I have the original and I love it.

Incredibly good value and very definitely viable. Support from NVidia is excellent.
The K1 lacks an integrated stylus port and has rubber speaker grills, but the hardware is the same. However, the first batch of Shield tablets produced suffered from problems, and you should DEFINITELY get a K1 rather than the original tablet.
One thing that's interesting about the Shield tablets is that despite being marketed as games tablets, they's actually really fucking good business machines as well: the stylus handwriting recognition is excellent and works really well with OneNote and other MS Office apps, and the front facing camera is above average, making it good for skyping and teleconferencing etc
By the way if you do get a Shield make sure you get a magnetic smart cover. The power / screen wake button is the tablet's worst feature.
