Why haven't you upgraded your USB cables yet, anons?

In a non-meme way for audio signalling, USB generally sucks compared to analog because there are delays that come from processing the digital signal for gates/phases/clocks/syncing/frames. You're talking about needing precision for 192KHz signals and the latency from the microcontroller and USB chip can easily get into the millisecond range. Doesn't make any difference when simply reconstructing a digital signal but analog signalling itself is still very prevalent in the audio world.

You're talking out of your ass, but that's okay.
The delays you are talking about are complete bollocks due to buffers which will ensure there are no gaps in data delivery between the file storage and the DAC. The beginning of the file may be delayed by a few microseconds but from there on it will be seamless.

You're talking out of your ass, it's called CV, and it's very much a thing in professional audio.

Why is it always balding middle aged pasty white guys with hearing way past their prime?

This is a "recording music in a studio" problem, not a "listening to music in a closed room" problem. https://www.presonus.com/community/Learn/The-Truth-About-Digital-Audio-Latency

Well it does look nice.

And even with very tight control over hardware, clock drift still can occur between interfaces using buffers. Timing in the pro audio world is a bitch.

USB was just not designed for precise timing.
