The Chinese can't suddenly install malware on your device just because it's rooted. Every time you do anything that requires root, you are prompted for permission, just like you are on Windows or Mac OS X. Furthermore, an unlocked bootloader cannot be exploited unless you have physical access to the phone, or manage to trick a stupid user into running malware as root.

Rooting an Android phone does not make it any more vulnerable, but it does make it on par with our personal computers. Given that we already use our phones for web browsing, media consumption, and sometimes even managing documents (though this is more often the case with tablets), it's easy to see that we're starting to turn them into miniature personal computers of sorts. Given this, why shouldn't we have access to the administrative account just like we would on a normal PC? There is no valid reason to intentionally cripple your own level of control over your devices.

Hi there!

You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!

Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!

>>
>>56011164
nothing, afaik it only checks if you have root permissions or not, it doesn't check your apps, they don't want people to use external addons to download pics or similar, like snapprefs, they require root that's why snapchat only checks for root status

Eh nobody said something against Apple here it has its ups and downs. At the end it's a thing of preferences. For me it was simply the fact that having a few cydia tweaks show the limited hardware and waiting months for a jailbreak is pain in the ass.

Isn't LP closed source? I'd rather use AdAway, at least I know it's open source and I can pick my sources.

They both modify the hosts file, anyway; just use AdAway.

toolbox > block ads
Has the same functionality as any other root based adblockers (changes hosts file)

I used LP because of its other functions, adblocking is just a bonus which means I don't need other adblocker apps.

Guy with snapprefs here
It does check for xposed, but only when youre not logged in, if u log in and flash xposed after that youre good to go
>>
>>56014020
Wait.

Does it check for the actual app being located on your phone, or the actual framework in the system files?

>>
>>56014030

Not really sure since i havent tried without the xposed application but i guess it can look for the framework if it can also look for root access

Can anyone with root/custom recovery tell me if that fucks with full phone encryption? When I had my note 3, full phone encryption with a non stock recovery would result in boot loop no matter what you did.

I currently have a fully unlocked Motorola moto X pure
>>
>>56014742
>>56014742
>>56014742
depends.

I had a One Plus One, i did full device encryption and I ran twrp 2.8.6.

twrp could not decyrcpt my phone, but it would boot fine. Updating twrp via software once booted to a newer version (think 3x) fixed the issue

do a little googling first. usually encryption only touches the data partition, where recovery uess the recovery partition and is only activated if the boot loader calls it (you holding down buttons)
>>
>>56014742
I'm also gonna chime in if you don't mind, since I also have some trouble with encryption, customs ROMs and so on.

I have an xperia SP, and I'm running the latest release of CM13. I charged my phone, connected it to the charger and pressed the "encrypt" thing in the settings. It warned me it would restart my phone a couple of times, I agreed..and then the phone just restarted. I waited, and waited - nothing happened.

I looked around the web, and I found something that told me to change SELinux to Permissive.

This time it seemed like it had more promise, since it rebooted a couple of times, and even an encryption "app" popped up, but after setting everything up the encryption "process" took less than 10 seconds. My phone rebooted, and it told me I had to factory reset since the partitions were corrupted. Factory resetting does shit on CM, so I just wiped everything and reflashed the ROM, and here I am.

I tried asking around the XDA thread for the ROM but nobody answers me.
