Apparently Chrome has now auto-forced Direct Write on with no option to turn it off anymore..on some websites this makes my eyes bleed. Found an article that explains it well
http://www.ghacks.net/2016/06/06/chrome-font-rendering-google/
Any way to still stop this or are there any browsers that don't use direct write?
Install Gentoo

Simple. Use a better browser.

Find some variant of Chromium that supports your ancient low DPI aliased font preferences.

>the bulk of users will notice the change
Nobody is going to notice this change except a handful of autistic holdouts and poorfags still running XP on a fucking ultrapotato.

I'm on the beta right now, and there's no difference between 51's font rendering and 52's.

forgot pic
seriously, this shit is cancer

isn't there a command line parameter to disable that? you can disable webfonts and aliasing with those too.

The GDI font renderer has been removed from the source code. There's not just a hidden setting.
I personally don't mind it, though. Font rendering on windows is always dogshit and DirectWrite is at least a bit easier to tolerate.

Your Italic bug has nothing to do with this
>>55996249
What in the name of fuck are you even doing?

>>55996339
Well it's never been like this before and appeared just as chrome updated to 52.x
Totally unrelated, sure.
>>55996298
ok. haven't used chrome in a while so not sure what they have changed in it.

Go into your font settings and fix it, you dumbass.
don't use a botnet browser
Opera for life

Can I fucking disable that shit speed dial?
>>55996718
You do know Opera is just a Chrome reskin right
