Combination of idea guy and a guy that can code is very rare. They do exist though, I've worked with a couple. Most end up figuring out how not to have to code and have others do it for them. Usually end up as managers, directors, CTO's. All I've met have been snakes, users, manipulators.

There is innovative software being coded, but it's not for end users. It's for large machine learning projects, virtual reality devices, WATSON style things &etc... End users don't use anything other than web browsers at the moment. The software for end users has actually become more shallow over the last ten years.

Who still uses desktops/laptops?

Students (Office suite)
Business (Office suite)
Creatives (Adobe suite)
IT/Programmers (IDE/Text editors)
Gamers (who cares)

And that's it. None of these groups need new software, nor do they want it
