In Mr. Robot, there is an extremely secretive, infamous and dangerous hacker group called The Dark Army.

Do groups like this exist in the real world?
>>
>>55929814
They do but they generally like to remain nonnymoose
>>
>>55929814
They are called internet MS shill force
>>
yes. the NSA exists
>>

>>

>>
>>55929882

>Lulzsec
>>
>>55929814

No, all serious hackers are state players.
And no one is hacking anything worthwhile and we will never know about anything they actually get.
>>
>>55929904
>Implying I'm wrong
>>
>>55929918
They're not even hacker groups.
>>
>>55929814
they are trying to be edgy with a fake version of anonymous, even elementary does it, and it's a shame as it makes the shows really cringy.
>>
>>55929814
this show is full of cringe btw, its made for stupid people to understand "hacking", in cyber security frim employee asks what is malware (like wtf) and they explain it (even worse)

groups exists but imo u should be afraid of ones u dont know even exists (logic :D)

and in group if one gets rekt he will snitch u all (lulzsec, crackes with additude and many more)
>>

Being a state sponsored hacker sounds like the dream.

To me they seem like any other mafia-type organized crime syndicate. There's plenty of those around.
>>

Look up Chaos Computer Group.
They've calmed down a lot in the last 25 years but they used to be the real deal.

There exist groups that are extremely secretive and infamous, but none that are extremely dangerous.

This is because when you become dangerous you make enemies, and ultimate lose to someone with more resources. No one can out resource a government.

The moment you become dangerous you lose your anonymity and infamy to a government
>>
>>55932977
To be fair, it wasn't the hacker's personal terminal right?
>>
>>55929814
Yes, and the public's knowledge of these groups are worrisome.
I believe the cyberwar is a much bigger thing than most people believe.

The thing is, most of their "nicknames" are given by the organisations that uncover them (Kaspersky, FSecure and Symantec throw around a lot of names).

Google for "APT Groups".

The Dark Army is literally China`s military hacking group just posing as a hacker group "The Dark Army". Please pay attention to the fucking show.

And yes, in real life USA, RUSSIA, CHINA and most countries have hackers that are tasked with taking down important infrastructure of their enemy during war.

Dangerous non-millitary affiliated hacker groups? No. The only danger is if they put a hit on you but then again so can anybody.
>>
>>55936080

>>
>>55929995
It's the virtual equivalent to being a state sponsored pirate in the 17th and early 18th century. You can plunder all that booty so long as that booty just happens to belong to our enemies/trade privals/rival colonial powers and if you ever ever rob anything of ours we're coming full force against your ass.
>>
>>55935600
Wasn't that hallucination?
>>
>>55929814
Of course they do, but most of them have ties with various mafias or crime syndicates, they act like an IT department for a bigger organization operating on tor selling drugs, doing murder for hire, that type of thing in order to supply the organization with an income, so they act within certain rules without needlessly attacking government or private businesses for the lulz.
>>
>>55935983
i can't hack, but god damn am I good at being a script kiddie, stole around 600 facebook accounts by putting my facebook phishing page link in a game arcade's/internet cafe's chrome speed dial thumbnail for facebook but keeping the image of facebook logo. So people go there, and mindlessly click on the thumbnail thinking they will get the facebook page but instead they get my phishing page. Now they don't look at the url literally being "anon's nickname and age.fb.blahblah.com", no they don't care about that! They just enter their info like fucking retards and it just redirects them to the facebook page that you get when you don't enter your password correctly, they just enter their info again and off they go to their facebook.

so fucking idiotic but hey as long as the victims are more idiotic, it works like a charm

Doesn't cuckbook have 2FA? Doesn't it automatically lock your account if you're logging in from a different machine or a different IP? You got the credentials, but I don't think there's much use for them if you can't use them in any way.

this was like 3 years ago, back then you could just redirect them to the page that you get for not entering your info correctly, now when you try to do that they give you the "you were just hacked" page, but you can still steal people's info because most don't have the thing set up where they get the code every time they try to login from a strange computer (at least where I live). Maybe that's mandatory in America now, here it's optional and really no one uses it.

I've been doing scientific coding for years now and I still don't really know what "hacking" really is. Like, does it consist of writing code in python, c++, bash? Is it simply writing scripts that will keep guessing passwords, or look for password information somehow? I don't really get it...

2) I'm alive and he's not (because he's dead)

So I'm better not in 1 but in two ways (because he's dead)

>If I kidnapped children for a living and sold them for 1 mill each until I had 1 billion, would that make me a better person than most people?

What is a "better person"? What does that mean? What capitalistic narrative has indoctrinated you to believe since your childhood through movies, music and television. Be like this, act like this, be a good boy and don't you ever even think about taking these mountains of money we're sitting on. Morality is a construct of the bourgeoisie and nothing else. Grow up.

The real question is "would that make you BETTER than most people" and yes it would. Billion $ gives you a lot of agency in this world of ours. That means you're better than people who have no agency.

reading source code (or disassembling code), then trying to figure out ways in which the code could fail (easiest example: entering a bigger string than anticipated) and seeing what happens (most of the time: nothing interesting happens). Software is a game with rules, hacking is figuring out loopholes or contradictions or omissions in the rules: doing things that weren't supposed to be done.

Ok, but don't you think it's pretty simple? Especially too simple to base a judgment of how "good" a person is or how much better they are than someone else on, in a philosophical sense? Your viewpoints are the same as those of an average hood nigger, which means there isn't much of a foundation of arguments behind it. To invalidate it it's enough for someone to disagree. You might have found guidelines for your personal life but to call it philosophy is narrow-minded.

But that's the thing. The whole concept of judging someone's character, or even the concept of character itself, these concepts exist solely because you need to interact with people to survive. So you need to know what you can expect from them. All human interaction is just bunch of simple economic transactions where both parties either must gain something or avoid losing something from the interaction. If these conditions aren't met, the interaction doesn't happen. Gain/Loss can be objective external (money, food, sex) or subjective and internal ( feeling good, feeling like a moral person..[all these have it's own reason, the ultimate reason of all of them being survival]).

So that's the only reason you judge people or care about what people are, how they are. Because you need to interact with them and you need to know if that interaction will be bad for you. That's the only reason for it. It's not something abstract, it's not floating in the air. It has to stand on something, that something ultimately being your own survival.

Again, forget the morality. Remove that lens from your mind. It doesn't matter how people behave. Whether you think they are good or bad or anything. The only reason that came to even be is your own survival. That's what matters. You. If you didn't care about dying or were immortal you wouldn't differentiate from a doctor that's saving a child's life and a pedo that's raping another child to death. Morality and moral lens through which you see the world only exist as a tool, as a pattern of behavior because they will grant you the best chances of survival. All about you as I said.

What I'm getting at is that you're a selfish machine made to survive. All the things you tell yourself, all the things society tells you, that's all shit.

It's not about "us", it's about our genes, they are the ones that make us who we are and make us act the way we act, and our genes are not only our own, they exists on our families and are shared within nations.

Caring about nationality, caring about your close ones, caring about community it's not just about your own survival, but also about the survival of those who carry a part of you in them, and caring about those whose's parts you carry in you. Humans are a bunch of very rebellious ants, we might think of ourselves as individuals but in reality we are a collective mass, we need each other, and we are all related to each other.

I understand where you are coming from but I didn't necessarily talk about how good (decent) a person is in a moral sense, but in a sense of the quality of a person. Philosophy at the highest degree of abstraction is confined by finiteness of the human existence and realizing this finiteness gives rise to certain concepts and ways of thinking that could be different or not meaningful if this finiteness would be configured in another way doesn't invalidate them as subject of inquiry. You don't have to believe me, as someone who refers to Marx you should know that there is a kind of philosophy that is purely practical. Disregarding that, you yourself were talking about how wealth makes a person better. However meaningless such attributes may be in some sense, if you're going to assign them in another sense, there should be some kind of reasoning behind it. If you were just to disregard how you can speak of character and how good a person is, you shouldn't have made that judgment in your first post. By making it you acknowledged such concepts to be meaningful in some context, and you should be able to justify there.

Explain how exactly. What I'm presenting is a mix of nihilism and marxism that niether marxists or nihilist quite follow. One thing that comes close to it is philosophy behind Fight Club, ie communistic nihilism. But even that ain't it. I'm all new and shiny. Look at me.

>atheist cucks

Does adding "cucks" to something make that something untrue in your mind. That cuckoldry for example. To you that's wrong because you have been indoctrinated into this monogamous love idea by our society because the economic system of the same society was based on marriage. That's how cooperation was assured, by giving something away that can be killed if you misbehave. The same as when peace comes when a prince marries the princess of the opposing side. That and the merging of two families wealth through marriage.
Also not to get into the recent stuff ie nuclear family and why that was pushed into society blah blah.

"What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons."

You get it, love and monogamy are just ideas put into your head to make you behave as society wants you to behave. They aren't natural or "RIGHT", they can't be true or inherent. They are made up. But yet you ate it all up with a smile and now when someone even suggest that all that is wrong you throw a hissy fit, and when you see someone acting the opposite of what this indoctrination suggest they should be acting like, you go crazy! You get angry, you want to kill, you want to burn. KILL THE KEKS.

Don't you find that all funny. You're a joke.

A bad one.

>>
>>55937970

I didn't said it was, I'm just saying that you are parroting what people with no real knowledge of philosophy spew out every single day everywhere, i'm not saying i'm an expert myself either.

>our ideas of love and family are based off capitalism.

I didn't grew up in the atomic family era. There was never an atomic family era where I live because i'm not a rusky nor a NATO empire dominated barbarian.

The concept of family is not even modern you dipshit, the whole concept of a man, a woman and children is older than civilization, and definitely older than capitalism, it has nothing to do with economics, it's a natural inclinations humans have due to the nature of our reproduction process, the main natural goal of a human is not survival of the individual, is survival of the species, reproduction is key, and the family system is a result of this, different species have different strategies, humans have a couple, a handful at most of childrens and they protect them until adulthood.

This alongside our other survival strategies and inherent physical abilities have allowed us to become the dominant species on earth. our nature is collective, our natural inclinations prioritize the survival of our kind, not of ourselves.

Saying that love and feelings are merely subjective imaginative ideas is nothing new either, but just because the romanticism behind them is all made up, it doesn't mean they don't have basis on objective factual reality, one that, btw, we don't fully comprehend yet, we are just barely starting to gain an understanding of our own brain, and altough feelings happen to be one of the things we understeand the best, that doesn't mean we know nowhere near enough to reach extreme conclussions, especially not ones as retarded as yours.
>>
>>55938085
>how wealth makes a person better by questioning the meaning of those concepts

exactly, but you seem to not get it.

>person
>better
>judgement
>character

I explained how that's all in service of your survival. It's not some thing that exists. You just "care" for it, or rather pay attention to it because it is beneficial to your survival. But when it comes to you and you alone, those concepts are utterly irrelevant and meaningless. How good of a person you are. What kind of a character you have. It doesn't matter as long as no one else knows it. You present some cookie cutter image that will do well in the world of economic transactions and not give a shit about it past that.

>You are clearly overestimating the reactions that your statements evoke

You're not clever enough to grasp it, that's why I'm not evoking any reactions from you.

Why are you quoting incomplete sentences? I said you applied those concepts to another matter earlier, and when you couldn't present a reasoning for this earlier statement you started questioning these concepts, i.e. avoiding the question. It's all good that you have certain abstract beliefs that you think others are too stupid to understand, but no one really asked you to expand on them. What you were asked is to justify calling a wealthy person "better" than a poor person, after you decided to apply this concept to the silkroad founder. You are arguing against the use of these concepts after using them yourself.

If I install a program on a computer and then install the same program on a different computer that is exactly the same as the other one, I expect the program to behave similarly or identically.

Genes are not sentient you moron, you can't expect a single gene to tell you what it wants to do, the way humans are naturally inclined to behave are the clues we have.

Also, if you understeand how the brain and emotions and sentience works you should probably be writting a book or winning a science prize, getting the whole world revolutioned rather than shitposting on /g/, why are you here if you are so smart and made so many discoveries? :^)

actually it's something inbetween. it's been observed that individuals in nature will get themselves rekt if it means that several close relatives will survive; which makes sense because they share a lot of your DNA hence if they have offspring that's beneficial to you from a genes copied point of view.

there's been some interesting debate on how that might be one of the reasons homosexuality develops in nature; like a homo lion wont have offspring himself but his gayness might develop out of a lack of mates or whatever and the fact that his chance of helping his relatives offspring survive will help him copy more of his DNA than raping some ragged burnt out lioness who will eat the offspring and get herself killed in a gnu stampede

also tit for tat and everything, while the ultimate goal may be to get copies of your genes out there helping your species or at least your community survive is beneficial to you too. it's all a little more complex
>>
>>55938405
Saying it's retarded and it's meaningless is not the same, but if you're going to say it, you should have a reason for it (I said a couple of times now), which the other person asked you for. This thread goes sideeways with everypost.

Anyway, with all the crap beeing said , this show is more about delusion and mental sickness of Elliot, as far as we know it, he still works in allsafe, and all thos shit is in his head.
Honestly, Evil Corp, Allgood, he is just some lomely anon with delusion of grandure, missing his dead father, cucked by a good guy at work.
Subutex abuse, im on subutex and i know how it goes, it was literally designed that you have to lower your cieling to get high, ane you really cant get of it cold turkey, for almost 2 years you will feel glorious depresion and wont be capable to do anything, let alone hack.
As long this show is about mental siciness and isolation ,sadness this new technology has brouht, itsmost epic show there is.

The tech stuff is fine.

What annoys me is that it uses the tech and style to hide the fact that it's a much shittier Fight Club and has no idea where it's going
>>

I wanted so much for the show to slowly reveal that all these "secrets" and "personal details" he's learned about people and thinks he knows people inside out and is able to manipulate them doesn't matter - people have actual lives off the internet.

It sounds like a nerd-delusion - "One I own your personal information, I own you."

Fun Fact: CotDC was the source of 31337, and by extension, 1337 and the term leet.
>>
>>55929814
Yes, they are called APT 1 and APT 2 which stands for 'Advanced Persistent Threat'. They are Chinese state level hackers who engage in espionage and would be dangerous if you are a prominent Chinese dissident or whistleblower, and they were sent after you.

It should be noted that researchers using BeEF the browser exploit framework were able to trap APT 1 in a honeypot, turn on their wifi and discover their location. They were also able to grab facebook cookies and learned all their identities. So even the top nation state level hackers of China... pretty much suck at this.

APT 2 is mainly involved in corporate espionage robbing US corps of IP.

Otherwise no, the blackhats are loosely disorganized criminals who have political protection through bribes in 3rd world countries and are solely interested in profit.

Also tfw you get trolled by this TV show and discover at the end he's just hallucinating and none of this actually happened, basically the plot of American Psycho 2.0
>>
>>55950940
There was also this UK guy, who after he got out of jail for haxxoring Tony Blar and joined ISIS in 2013 started an actual real doomsday hacker group but the American's droned him pretty quick by again using honeypots to bait him with false espionage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Junaid_Hussain

In a more serious reply then you deserve;

Dangerous HACKER groups? Nah, not really.

It's becoming more and more common for hackers, mostly in eastern europe and russia, to be linked to VERY dangerous people though as cyber crime gets organized and comes under the management of guys who also run guns, slaves, and metric tons of heroine though.

Hacker culture is pretty much dead if you compare it to some decades earlier..
You see, as Hacker you don't get glory or fame.

It's either a well payed job as Pentester, where you get silly industry names like "Red Team" and get big paychecks by richfags to protect their cash cows.

Or it's a living in fear of getting van'd.. If you're lucky you can sell zero day exploits, but today it's not as easy anymore.

OR you are one of the very few cool guys you are not in it for the money (but simply for the love of freedom and computers) and get creds from a very very small circe of people.

So which one would you choose, OP?

Just git gud and visit a Def Con or CCC meeting, they can give you much better answers to your questions.

I can share a little story with you all.

About three years ago when I was deep into hacking, I came across a russian guy who was friends with my hacking partner. The russian did not know how to hack anything but he was good at spamming. He had about 10-12 hackers working under him and they had access to some of the biggest databases and sites you can think of, along with tons of 0days. When I come to think about it, all of us had access to a lot of big stuff that even to this day I can't name because there are tons of open cases. The thing is with 12 people working under you, they are going to get a lot more work done. He was responsible for a lot of the yahoo account hacks back in 2013 due to an exploit. I hacked into the advertising platform he used for his spamming campaigns and saw that he was making over $70,000 per day. It was pretty mind blowing. I was making a lot myself but not as much as him. Eventually my partner went down and ratted on me, then I went down. I heard the russian guy was investigated pretty heavily because my partner ratted on him too. Not sure if he ever got caught. He most likely had ties to some sort of organized crime syndicate in russia.

This wasn't like the dark army but it was just a very anonymous/underground hacker group that pulled off extreme hacks. I am sure that many more exist and the public doesn't know about them.

Reality differs.

In one country evidently far from you, these guys were roped in by nameless agencies and given an ultimatum: work for the gov or bad things would happen. Rep. is sufficient that most evidently decide not to end in a ditch.

You are still under the gun, though.
