It's your fault if vsync doesn't work (and no, you don't have to setup anything to get it working, as long as you don't use some crap non-compositing WM).

You don't even have to do that. You also get additional latency in fullscreen when you turn that on.
It's good if you don't have a compositing WM (you could just use compton though).
