They may not be like older keyboards, bit the keyboards on modern ThinkPads are better than anything on the market

Most (all?) of the "chiclet" keyboards on the market today actually use an ordinary rubber dome or scissor-dome mechanism. There's no real difference besides the way the keys are shaped.

The thinkpads in particular are more concave than they used to be, which is meant to be closer to a desktop keyboard.
