I run a small consultancy business (I don't think I can name it here because of this board's rules on advertising and soliciting) which specialises in viral marketing and social media strategies. As such, our Twitter account is central to our business model. However, this account has been hacked, and is now posting spam links in tweets and direct messages, mostly advertising a "work from home, get rich quick" scam. I have been trying to delete the spam as soon as it appears, but it just keeps coming back. Also, I have changed the account's password twice, but this has failed to stop the spam. What is happening? The reputation of my business is being ruined by this, and a number of our clients have abandoned us in disgust. What can be done?

no it's not
literally no one cares what you tweet
no one will ever read any of your tweets

Yes it is. We have tens of thousands of followers, and many of our clients first made contact with us via Twitter. As I said, social media is our speciality.

delete this
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
you probably got hacked through your connected apps/accounts you should remove all of those.

it's settings > apps then you should revoke access to everything and re add the ones you need.
Then go to Security and Privacy and enable some 2 step authentication for your account.
