I have a large family photo collection and would like to have a tag and search system to find images that fit criteria I want. Is there any software for Windows that allows you to tag keywords onto all the images in a collection and then search by those tags?
Similar to how booru websites work if you've used one. I could bring up a search for "beach" "dog" "summer" and get images I've tagged all those onto.
I've found 2 in the past but they were either really bad or bloated to all hell.
you can hold control or shift i believe and click at the bottom of the list to the top and it will get the 2 you clicked on and everything in the middle

Did you even read the post?
I need the same thing but for videos.
I have a lot of TV shows and sometimes I remember some really minor joke or a scene or something but can't remember where it's from. I'd like to be able to tag the episode when I do find it so I can search for it later.
sorry i probably read it wrong
OP there is literally a program maintained by an anon that does exactly that. It's fucking awesome.
Look at "hydrus network" I would post link but I'm on phone. It does exactly what you are talking about, and the development maintains a board on double Chan whee he gets feedback. Gets updates every week.
. It's excellent.

i dont know if there is a software or windows for that but you can make folders for your computer and so anytime you search your folders you can enter in the name of the folder (you can change name of folder by clicking where it says "untitled" when you make a new one). You'll be able to seperate if you wanted by season or if you wanted to seperate by the persons name or the year.

Ps read the documentation. It creates it's own file system so unless you tell it otherwise, deletes the originals and moved it to a new location.

Trying this out, thanks.
You're not alone.
I know finder+.DS_STORE (OS X exclusive) allows for tagging files. It should be file system universal, but that's an experiment to test.
That's the closest thing we have to a large scale tagging system. It would be a nice feature to add to a file system, but the MAN is more interested in marketing then potentially broken and experimental features (not to mention a somewhat niche feature)

Just middle click and then select "Update" from the dialog box

Looks like he forgot to add that tagging photos is built into Windows 7. But yeah, he's answered your question - "tag images in a collection" -> "hold shift and select them". Just didn't expect that you didn't know of built-in tagging in Windows.
