i've been using an android smartphone for a couple of days now. i'm getting really fucking paranoid.
in what ways is my information getting leaked?
It's not. Unless you're literally retarded and have it hooked into the internet or have a sim card in it.
Imagine trying to hold water in a colander.
everything is going through google, it sticks its head up everythings ass trying to suck as much info as it can, want to be headache free ?
get an iphone
I recently analyzed the Play Store application.
It retrieves your location each time you install an app, and each time you tap on the comment section - and not just once, but twice.
I don't know what else is there, but there are at least 10 other proprietary system apps. You have a right to be paranoid. Get a ROM or something and run gappsless.

This.
Google watches you every move.
>root your smartphone
>flash a rom of your choice (Replicant>OmniRom>everything else in terms of "security")
>go to your settings and enable all the privacy shit you want
>install xposed and xprivacy
>stay away from playstore and GAPPS

Flash CM without gapps if you don't want big brother google watching you

xprivacy is not secure.
all phones with qualcomm cpus are hardware backdoored and mess with encryption by design.
android built in privacy manager is much more reliable than xprivacy.
you can defeat xprivacy without even needing root.

I do both.
Could you elaborate more how I can secure my smartphone. I know this is a paradox effort because of the smartphones unsecure nature but I want to know.

dont run any play services. and dont use any applications that replace system services.
there is only so much you can do on an inherently unsafe system.

Ok, then it seems I should be "safe".

use a firewall like AFwall, use an IMSI Catcher-Detector, and log your phone's communications for a week to see if there is anything suspicious, of course using this advice >>55878635 first

Don't put out data in your phone
