Buy a 1060, hands down. Don't bother with multi-GPU when the card is so slow, it's only ever worth considering if you're aiming for performance much faster than the fastest single GPU around.

SLI and CF will never work perfectly and they will never work all the time, but with a single card you'll have much fewer issues and consistent performance. There's no point to SLI unless you're going for 1070/1080 SLI to play at 2160p or 1440p 144Hz+

1060 is faster than gtx 970 so yes gtz1070/rx480 is really good
