I am in the market for a similar device as well, the bugs of Dell XPS really keep me away from it.

Currently I am thinking about getting a Macbook Pro 13". The current is 1.5 years old and has Broadwell but I am sort of in a rush, been putting this off, and I need the device by end of this month at the latest.

I'm in a similar situation to you, but I'm going for the 12" Macbook solely because it's updated to Skylake and I'm not trying to do anything heavy on it.

All of the complaints about the XPS13 really ruin the "But it's cheaper" argument for me and I can name 2 times in the past 4 years I've actually needed to use the ports on my laptop.
