Ok /g/, I'm going to write the thesis for my BS in Computer Engineering. I have to write some kind of software, but I don't want it to be the usual shitty Android app, so give me help with some cool ideas, like a small OS for a Raspberry Pi. Bonus points for low level stuff

Get Windows XP to run on it?

That's not about writing code

If you don't already know what you want to do your thesis on, you picked the wrong major.

8bit AVR computer with dedicated videocard,sound interface,assembler
use the power of multiple AVRs to make up the cpu.
Elder god tier bonus: atari 2600 emulation

LOL

Something for communication between pi's perhaps. Something that allows multiple pi's to work together providing a useful abstraction for the programmer when working with many pi's.
Keep in mind that ROS provides much of this functionality already, it's a great place to start out if you want to take a look at what can be done with pi's.
I competed at NASAs neutral boyancy lab this summer with an ROV powered by ROS and a pi, it was bretty cool.

It's basically what engineering is all about

This seems pretty cool, thanks

The Pi cannot into RT linux, right? It does not have a clock or something from what I recall
Help the odroid c2 devs to port 4.7 to it.
>thesis for BS
You mean senior design project?

Motor control for a heliostat. Enter GPS coordinates and local time, and from that determine optimal azi and ele for solar panels.

Seconded for ROS.
