Depends on the floor obviously. If you have hard wood probably not. But if you have shag fucking carpet odds are airflow won't be optimal.

if the carpet is short then the stands on most cases would provide the same airflow as on hardwood, but you will accumulate dust and other garbage on your components much faster on the carpet.

i like to put a small wooden board on the carpet where my computer will be.

Just fucking don't. Fat chances that there's an hella lot more dust not worth maybe the single or couple degree of air temp, assuming every thing else ruled out.

There is a difference, but it's not that big. Colder air is on the ground, so that's a plus, but if you got a carpet, you gonna have shit ton of dust.
