It's not genuine though. They let you do it and keep using it but it's marked as mialicensed, I bet they're gonna pull a ransomware move on those devices at some point.

Every buddy knows it's botnet.
Nobody falls for the 'i'm just a regular /g/ent and not even a paid shill' meme, either.

If you're not a retard and used Daz you should be fine.
When I ditch this laptop, likely selling it to my mom or something, I'm using Linux. I don't have faith in the future of Windows.

You know it's bad when even people in MS-subreddits start saying this. It's happening.

I forced myself to use Linux on a laptop for about a year back in 2005 or so. Back then the wireless support was spotty and I couldn't get ndiswrapper to work so I just used a really long ethernet cable. I also didn't have the on board sound working for months, until I spent enough time googling to find something that magically made it work.
These days judging by my attempts with using live cds everything just works outright. I have enough experience from running servers and messing around with my raspberry pi, the command line doesn't intimidate me anymore. I was sticking around for some specific software and games but I don't see the point of that anymore. I'll experiment with wine and find replacements for anything I can't run that way, fuck it.
