I'm taking my first coding class /g/ and apparently I'm gonna learn Fortran. Is it a good language to learn? Where can I get a head start on this and learn as much as I can before the semester starts.

I don't plan on it but it doesn't seem like a bad option to have
Fortran 77 was my uni language going in. I am now 39. Go to a better school.
You don't need a head start. Do yourself a favor learn another language and act surprised when it seems like a repeat.
It is a solid language, but you can't do much with it, but the syntax is simple and it is super easy to pump out a few things should you need to calculate stuff. Most fortran programmers will move their code to C should they need some speed or functionality.

This
They should offer C, C++, Java, and Assembly for lower-level languages. Learning Fortran might get you a very specific job but it'll be deprecated long before your career is over.

I learned fortran in college in 2001. NASA uses it on space probes they told me. memes anon. memes.
Learning a deprecated language to maintain a spaghetti code base. Seems like a go idea

They still use punchcards. The lack of gravity surprisingly has little to no effect on paper.
