Once you sorted that out/they eventually got rid of it, it is strictly better than Windows 7 in most every way.

I've not seen Metro since I first installed the OS.

Personally I prefer Startisback since its not a service that launches with startup but is actually built into the system. Either are great though.

The point is that your Win7 menu is outdated.

If you add more icons, it becomes the tower of babel with no horizontal option. If you want to have preview thumbnails, you have to deal with teeny tiny .ico files.

I liked 8.1 a lot.

Issue is half of the time I would have this little issue where it would take a year to access contents in my disk with a specific update.

And now I have other issues:

1. I cannot update it or find a version that -only- has the proper updates
2. It's a bit of a bitch to deal with on a multimonitor setup
3. With the addition of the ribbon UI, it's a bit more of a pain to customize
4. Since I don't pay for any operating system I have to deal with Microsoft Toolkit

That said, I went back a few times to windows 7 and it was a bitch with scaling and some other annoyances that I would not experience with 8.1. I admit 8.1 was pretty fucking sweet.

Now I'm on 10. I'm not exactly too happy with it but at the same time, I'm lazy enough to switch back. I just don't want Microsoft to keep pushing me to Windows 10 or fucking my system up with certain updates. I don't care about DX12 because as it happens, I don't use the only thing that I could give a shit about which was Dolphin.

I loved Win7. But the UI in Win10 UI is a system administrator's dream.

Literally every important thing in Windows deployment and maintenance is 1 keystroke away.

OpenGL is decent. AMD support for it is not. Runs great on nvidia cards, and it's not because it somehow has been set up to benefit nvidia. It's just that the vendor itself eg AMD/NVIDIA/Intel has to include their own openGL implementation with their driver, and AMD just fucked it up.
