How much of a performance boost in gayms can I expect, when overclocking my Q8300 and GTX550TI?
Will an overclock to 3GHz make any significant difference?
>>55796308
Why don't you find out?
With 550ti, expect maybe low settings 1080p @ 40-60fps.
>>55796317
Need to upgrade my cpu cooler first, wanted to know if its worth it before upgrading.
>>55796308
That's a nice bootleneck there my m8.
>>55796718
Never had any reasons to upgrade.

Dude, buy an x5450, they're like 30 dollars from China, and if you overclock that it'll perform much better than an overclocked 8300.
For the 550 ti, you should probably expect ~5-7fps gain if you oc the memory too.

If you don't have reasons to upgrade why are you wanting to overclock?

27.4 aud
How much is that in usd? $25?
For lntel Xeon X5450 3.0GHz/12M/1333Mhz/CPU equal to LGA775 Core 2 Quad Q9650 CPU,works on LGA775 mainboard no need adapter

This is true, but $30 on it is still just about a waste if you're in a first world country.

Free performance? Never played any games or done anything demanding newer hardware.Recently all of my friends started playing Overwatch so I wanna give it a go.

Thanks for the hint, might look into it.
>>55796845
Hey that's a pretty good deal too.
But when you look at it, that costs 4x as much as the x5450, so while it might be the better value buy overall, it might not be the better buy for OP. Especially if he has to pick it up.

Cheers mate.
Also if you're planning on overclocking, I hope you've got a good cpu cooler. If not, try to not raise the voltage at all.
Also on lga775 boards, once you reach the limit of your oc, you can push it a little higher by overclocking your pcie slot
>>55796308
What game? Compared to what? How should we know how much you are able to push those components? Why didn't you just overclock and find out yourself instead of making a thread on /g/ which nobody here can give a proper answer to?
