Shit happens, it's not the first phone to blow up, and it sure as hell will not be the last. A OnePlus One caught fire not that long ago, iPhone blew up on a plane in Sydney a few years ago, Moto Droid that caught fire and burnt someones face, there is tons of stories just like this.

I'm sure that Xiaomi will give some form of compensation due to the fact that there was no visible user error in the video, just him in the midst of a phonecall, it's not Xiaomi's fault, and it's not the users fault either, as I said, shit happens.
