Can anyone explain to me why people are waiting months for the Asus 1080 OC edition to get stock while the standard edition you could easily just OC yourself and its in stock, am I missing anything really?
i have the standard strix 1080
the overclocking on it is horrible. it barely budges past stock.
i've heard that it OCs just as well after flashing the bios with the OC version but i'm not willing to accept the risks of firmware modification for 3-4 extra frames

You're either a retard or asus is fucking with their customers really hard. It could be both.

They're just binning the top end ASICs as OC cards
I don't really care, even near stock the strix 1080 is still a silent beast

its a known thing, founders cards clock higher, even on custom pcb cards like asus msi and gigabyte, they can barely hit 2050 while founders do 2130.
the downside to founders is the dumb leaf blower fan

You can easily clock the gigabyte 1070 g1 to 2100
