Remember when GPU prices were reasonable?

Titan X ($1200) = GTX 580 ($499)
GTX 1080 ($599) = GTX 570 ($349)
GTX 1070 ($379) = GTX 560 Ti ($249)
GTX 1060 ($249) = GTX 550 Ti ($149)

Don't want to make a new thread just for one question, and it is nVidia related:

Those small single fan cards vs. larger, two-three fan cards - what is the deal with those? Like, if you have little space in a case or what?

that or they will pull another 780 ti

I just ask in a way 'Would I benefit from a smaller-baby-tier card'? Or do I just get a regular one and don't even sweat it. I have shitloads of space in my case, so size doesn't matter really.

You shouldn't be comparing consoles to PCs like that anyway, everybody has a PC in their house, so you should be comparing the price of a shit tier PC+a console+whatever consoles charge you annually for online VS a single PC, so around like $600-$800 should be the price

amd just sucks, so nvidia, doesnt need big dies to competite, since they are still the performance kings. I feel like nvidia is adopting intel strategy, they will do similar strategy to Tick-Tock of intels and release new series cards more often, Volta is rumored for 2017 1-2Q. They dont need to crank out everything from there cards now, so they can release non-fully optimized cores and still gain huge performance lead over AMD, who are struggling to even release mid end cards.

Small fans = higher RPM for same cooling effect
Large fans = lower RPM for same cooling effect

If you want a quieter GPU, you want one with large fans, instead of one with smaller fans.

Same applies for CPU coolers. My coolers are almost silent. I can only hear my HDDs. Can't wait for SSDs to be cheap enough to replace rotary HDDs fully.

some EU retailers blocked bulk RX orders to curb miners from destroying the customer base

Remember when a GTX 580 equated in performance to a GTX Titan XP? Oh right. It would have taken more cards that you could possibly SLI together and have cost >2x as much.

I'm not trying to justify nvidias jewing. I know they're doing it because there's no competition. But if you were a business owner, why wouldn't you capitalize on idiots? DFP is a meme for consumers. If you want DFP then buy enterprise grade equipment. Old quadros aren't that expensive second hand.
>>
>>55784511

miners aren't at fault for utilizing the card, it's AMD's fault for releasing cards that can't sustain themselves at 100% utilization without dying.

this is also part of the reason why AMD has so little share in the gpgpu and pro market. firestream cards get so hot that they desolder themselves from the board.
>>
>>55787768
>it will be as the price-dropped binned/shader fused variant of this.

new titan x already is cut, 4 of the SMs of the 60 on the GP102 die are disabled. nvidia will most likely release a 1080ti with the same cut and a newer titan later that is fully enabled.

GTX 680 fag here. Why does everyone care so much about ultra settings? My card still runs everything fine at either high, or a mix of ultra and high settings for 1080p.

My brother is still running gta v on his HD 6870, on a mix of medium and low settings, and the game looks fine. Going to keep this card until it can't handle medium 1080p 60 fps, then I'll upgrade.
>>
>>55792673
Main reason I spent the extra $$$ on the 580 was to be able to run everything maxed out and run smooth. Yeah, eventually more demanding games come out and you have to lower settings. It lasted quite a while though. I will probably upgrade to NVIDIA's next gen chipset when it comes out, but pascal just doesn't seem to cut it with 4k-5k and bleeding edge graphics.
