WPM means nothing if you can't type correctly.

Download Mavis Beacon or do some online program.

Use only one thumb (right) for the space bar. DONT LOOK AT THE KEYS.

yeah I typed at 96 maximum on qwerty and am up to 80 right now after less than 2 months on colemak.

It also feels much better to type on colemak, which is primarily why I switched to it.

ive been using dvorak since roughly 2010-11 wpm sits around 75-80... 10-15wpm faster but more accurate and ergonomic (touch typing with proper keystrokes) than when i used qwerty.

alt layouts are pretty cool. i considered colmak at the time but dvorak seemed to make more sense. took about 4 weeks to develop a functional wpm

Dvorak users, what is it like having to temporarily go back to QWERTY if you're using a library computer or something, and then coming back to Dvorak afterwards? Dvorak seems objectively better, the only thing making me hesitant is the idea of having an awkward transition every time I use a keyboard that's not mine, and then another when I go back.

I never use other people's computers, so I don't know. If the library lets you run programs from flash drives, you can use PKL (Portable Keyboard Layout), it works like an AutoHotKey script so it's not a "proper way" of adding the layout but it does the job.

Also, you will probably learn Colemak faster than Dvorak. Both layouts are about the same in efficiency, but Colemak keeps some keys from QWERTY (q, a and all of the bottom row except n) and there are some games with shit keyboard support that don't let you bind the comma or period (so you can't use ,aoe or .oeu on Dvorak, but you can use wars (kek) or frst on Colemak)

For Spanish, Colemak handles áéíóú better than QWERTY or Dvorak IMO, aeiou + AltGr feels better than pressing the dead key then aeiou. A dedicated key for ñ isn't necessary, because it's not used often (the only letters that are used less than ñ are x, w and k)
