So how do I unlock this piece of shit S3? I've had it rooted on Cyanogenmod for a while but I pretty much just used it as a VNC viewer. I just got a free sim for it and found out when I put it in that it's actually still locked. All of the sites offering unlock codes look shady as fuck, and I can't even remember what carrier it was on when it was gifted to me by an old friend when they upgraded their contract to a new one.
Is there a solution that doesn't involve taking the phone to one of those dingy shops run by an Indian?

What you're really gonna love is that you won't be able to unlock your device while running custom OS, even with the correct unlock code. You have to go back to stock, unlock, then reinstall Cyanogenmod.

Use your imei to find out your carrier,then go to ebay and find a service that unlocks samsungs.
