Is Alpine Linux usable as a desktop operating system? I mostly will be using it for standard Unix stuff and I just want a simple, secure operating system. I have Windows for games and such.

No
Why exactly do you need alpine for your desktop?
/distrosNoOneUses/ general?

It just seemed like a simple Unix-like Linux distro. I'm not a big fan of the GNU stuff. I'm currently using Void with musl and it seems to work okay, but I found Alpine and it looks cool.

Just use Ubuntu.
Preferably Ubuntu GNOME, but all variants work fine.

desktop ? no.
alpine is good for severs, it seems.

This. Ubuntu is the most suitable for desktop atm.

slack is pretty unixlike.
alternatively a BSD could be more to your taste. freebsd is a meme so bad even the devs don't use it, but openbsd and netbsd are great (no, netbsd isn't only for old hardware)
