Realistically what can one of these clock to? I hear terrible things about Broadwell-E OC.
I bought a 10 core ES chip, only clocks to 3.1Ghz but hey I paid 1/5 the price for it.

They're exactly as you say except the clocks are usually lower than retail. At least for every one that I've seen. Some may have a completely different core count too.
