If you have W7, I would upgrade. Windows 7 is dead in 3.something years with no updates anymore, but you will be able to continue on with 10 after that.

Windows 8 has almost 7 years left so it is a bit less important there, but if you like to save money, there is no reason to not book your license by the upgrade.

I'm trying to update my wife's son's mother's laptop to win10 after it was 'activated'. I inserted a win7 key i remembered i had and got accepted, but after i upgrade to win10, the first boot to desktop has an error "couldn't find pleasewait.exe..." or some similar shit, then it restarts and goes into a bootloop. The only think that helps is goingback to win 7, which luckily has worked 2 times now.

I've got a Yoga 3 Pro that I use as a tablet. I fucking love Windows 8.1. Tried 10 and it just didn't feel as polished or easy to use. In particular Edge sucked ass as a tablet browser.
