Are there any programs that allow you to create hashes of files;

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

Are there any programs that allow you to create hashes of files;
store them;
and then allow you to check your files with the previously stored hashes at a later point of time?

I'm have many backed up files that need of hashing so I know went to replace them when any silent corruption occurs.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

In my 18 years of being a computer nerd I have never had a single file become corrupted after being transferred. Why do people do this?

Some of us still have PTSD from the days of 300 baud modems and telephone lines.

If your computer shuts down during a transfer you can safely assume that the file is not okay without checking its hash.
>>
>>55743243
Files can be corrupted on any operating system if the system was not shut down properly, regardless if the files are being transferred.

hashcheck shell extension, google it
works perfectly

Its designed for running checksums of audio recordings but it uses MD5 so works fine. You just dump a filer or files in there, create the checksum and then save the .md5 file with the files.

Use ZFS
Individual block checksums with scrub calls.

Try using a modern file system FFS

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
