<1$ Mic: It works as well. Picks up my voice just fine with decent quality and no noise @ 85% mic volume. Better than my fhv2 headset mic even. It didn't come with a muffler, as seen in the picture. Not that it would have made a difference with such a microphone. Somehow it picks up loud noises and voices from across the room but doesn't pick up my membrane keyboard's sound when it's >30cm away from it. Also the clip slides on the cable a little to easily but at least it has a tight good grip.

My Xiaomi pocket bank has begun to start charging really slowly, and have poor connections. It was charging 3 x phones before, but now it charges extremely slowly. Capacity is still fine.

In my opinion (for larger purchases at least) you save your money by buying from China by sacrificing time. If you don't want to put in some research before putting your hard earned down then you're just throwing your money away.

The seller that I bought the lights from is apparently a OEM reseller, so they should be OEM fit and finish.

Probably not. Most of the time resellers flash shady ROMs with play store and shit on but aren't the official global rom.

It's quite easy to flash the Global ROM though, and doesn't require you to unlock the phone. Just follow the guide on the MiUI forums.

I bought the Redmi Note 3 on release day. I returned it when I realized that they're now locking bootloaders, and now require you to send an online request and wait 14-60 DAYS until your request is approved. Since unlocking is done via a user-hostile proprietary software you can't hope to unlock until Lord Chink decides that you deserve it (if at all). In fact, if the chinknigger ignored your bootloader unlock request, since they give you no updates whatsoever except a message when (if) its unlocked, you're going to be past the return date on the phone.

Add the fact that MIUI phones home CONSTANTLY and that even if you install a new rom there's probably some low level spyware there (because it's China) and I'd rather pay twice that amount for a non-chink phone.

No you can't, or at least couldn't up to late December 2015 when I managed to return it. You had to first flash the Chinese dev rom, then use the bootloader unlock tool. You'd sign in with your MIUI account and then either it would return an error (and require you to send an unlock request, which again takes several WEEKS), or mysteriously work right off the bet.

So hilariously some user accounts had unlocking privileges right off the bet and nobody knew why (Xiaomi sure as fuck wasn't talking about it). A widespread rumor was that it was tied to the number of posts your MIUI account had in their forum. So for weeks people were spamming the fuck out of their stupid chink forums with "thanks :^)" until it turned out to be false. It was then that this piece of shit got sent back.
