Is this still the best solution out there to keep track of time and UEFI settings on a computer?
>>
no, an oscillator is
>>
>UEFI
>can literally destroy your computer by doing rm --rf --no-preserve-root /

Who the fuck thought this would be a good idea?

With freedom comes great responsibility.
>>
>>55731466

Only if the manufacturer fucks up the implementation. According to the UEFI standard this cannot happen.
>>
>>55731443
In the absence of any external power? Yes.
>>
>>55731466
>mounting your motherboard firmware as r/w
Oh geez, why not mount all your devices' firmwares as r/w?
Fucking morons.
>>
>>55731608

To add: All manufacturers fucked up their implementations and the linux kernel actually takes measures now to prevent users from shooting themselves in the foot (which is a fukken disgrace, btw).
>>
>>55731466
UEFI is a solution that nobody asked for. Honestly I think the US government pushed for UEFI adoption because every manufacturer has an easy access backdoor built in, which means it doesn't matter what OS the user has.

Yep, however such big battery is overkill for modern rtc.
>UEFI settings
You could fuck up writing to eeprom and you will need external programmer to fix it. With volatile memory all settings will be reset no matter what.

Btw
>it's 2000+16
>still no bluetooth hid support in uefi
>>
>>55731684

Personally I hate the function creep of UEFI. I want BIOS back.

This. Are there still BIOS only mobo's
