Why the fuck do laptop makers seem to think that it's okay to force me to look at a homeless person's ass to operate my laptop? Why can they not just attach a real screen?
Because laptops, being portable computers, are better light and smaller than bigger and heavy. Carrying 2,3kg laptop with charger is not very pleasant, as oppossed to 1,3kg one that is actually portable.
I have Dell 15,6'' laptop and I dont even carry it around - it is too heavy. It basically works as stationary, with exception that I dont have to worry about keyboard and monitor.

normies, why else?
when all you use your computer for is facebook, amazon, and shitty 720p netflix streams 1366x768 is fine.

1366x768 is good for portability but I honestly think the resolution needs to be higher once you hit the $500+ range. If a phone or tablet of equivalent price can have a higher resolution than a laptop, something's wrong.

Is it really that hard to carry around a tower, UPS, and monitor with wireless keyboard and mouse?

buy your laptop used or refurb, ez pz. Got a 14in thinkpad with 840m for 400 bucks :D 1080p ips display :D
1366x768 makes more sense than 1440p or 4K on fucking 13 inch screens
What's wrong with 1366x768?

Are you stupid? There are 1920x1080 IPS laptops for $400 these days.

>840m
>Thinkpad
That's not a Thinkpad.
Need a laptop for internet browsing, playing old games, notes, and video playback, suggestions?

Because they can get away with it, that's why. You can't do shit except pay through the nose for a stronger machine with a passable screen (or maybe retrofit an old laptop with a new hi-res screen if it accepts it?).
Why would I need a dGPU for those things?
