Shitty keyboard thread.

Pic related. We ordered some new HP workstations at my work and this is the keyboard (or extremely similar) to the keyboard that came with it. I didn't know a keyboard could lay so fucking flat. Furthermore, the buttons are all soft when pressed. This thing is trash.

It became stiff after a few months, and the palmrest has the texture of hard sandpaper. Worst design ever.

I have a Topre Realforce 88 now and never going to use anything else
>>
Can anyone recommend a decent priced keyboard that would be used for gaming/web browsing? I have a Logitech K120 now ($10 cheepo). After only 2 months, the legs have broken off and the spacebar is giving out. Number pad would be great but not required.

Fujitsu KB910 (and similar)

great specs on paper, but...
squeaky and sticky keys, like they get physically stuck sometimes. And unless you press the key exactly in the middle, with no lateral force at - the required force might be a few hundred gram, up to a few kilo it seems, with the according sound. I bet the loudest mechanical KB makes as much noise, but at least its consistent.

Holy shit, no.
If you want a poorfag semi decent rubber dome, get yourself a Dell SK-8115.
>>
>>55713627
I think those keyboards are made for watching porn. ;)
>>
>>55714857

Have that lenovo (IBM branded) one and it's not bad for membrane keyboard you just have to pop out the keys and grease sliding surfaces with silicone grease.

I've replaced it with cheapest small keyboard from aliexpress for like $6 and it's horrible. It also has apple style chocolate keycaps which I hate so much.
>>
>>55714963

Have that Dell keyboard at work and Lenovo one is better not to mention how much better it looks.
>>
>>55715013
I have both at work and the dell one is vastly better.
I'm not saying you're lying though, the build quality varies a lot from batch to batch, which is also part of why most of those poorfag rubberdomes are crap.
>>
>>55714857
>Lenovo Preferred Pro
Yuck, d'être honnête. I hate these keyboards. We have probably 200 at the library I service. They're noisy as hell, the feet always break off, the cord comes out straight so you can't press the keyboard up against anything, and it's chunky and takes up extra space on the top and bottom. If it's a public terminal then you know some jackass is going to eat chips or whatever over it, and the excessive space between the keys and the frame gets clogged with shit.

If you literally can't afford anything else, this keyboard is usable, but its only pro is that "it works" and you can spill a coffee on it without freaking out.
>>
>>55715040

Mine is quite old and IBM branded but it looks the same. Maybe quality went down over time.

I can only assume that all PC manufacturers are just trying to build and sell the cheapest possible fucking keyboard they can. I can't blame them, it's smart marketing.

>>
>>55722251
the same way expensive keyboards works
>>
>>55722580
Why people say that expansive keyboards are better then?
>>
>>55722251
it's probably a simple encoder. you get 1 for the key pressed, 0 many unpressed
you convert this to a number
quite easy
>>
>>55722700
circuits are open, circuits are closed. The quality of the "key" that open and close the circuit is what makes a keyboard expensive (most of the time).
>>
>>55717974
No? Awesome.
>>
>>55721890
so?

>>55722251
The "chip" is under the black melt-down plastic.
It's in the form of an unpackaged die though, so you'd kill it by removing the plastic drop.
