Is being a web developer from home a meme? I'm getting tired of all the corporate bullshit but I still enjoy the work itself. I'd be much happier to just work from home. I looked into toptal and it seemed lucrative, and I think I'm knowledgable enough to pass the interview.
Is it hard to get a remote job? Do you usually get an onsite job first and then negotiate a deal to work from home?

You can make good money assuming you have a client base. Developing a client base is the hardest part. You do not even have to be a good web developer. I have seen people that cannot even write basic html, and simply install a wordpress installation + 100 plugins that make good money simply because their name gets passed around. It's not right, but it's how it works.

Although it's possible to do remote job, you still can't avoid meeting with clients.
Rather, the more people you meets, the better your business network is.
