Hey guys, I'm trying to write a simple script that will generate the sha1/md5 of a file before you download it.
I don't know how to code and would like to write this in perl/lisp because I heard those two are good for web programming and stuff.

he wants to generate a hash from any file before actually downloading the full file, which like i said is impossible because even if 1 byte changes, then the entire hash will be off.
he COULD purchase a high speed server, and then have the script automatically send the file to the server temporarily, generate the hash, then feed it back to his main computer.

well see what the script would do is it would download the file first and create the hash. then he could download the file freely and without worry.
