>The U.S. Government has arrested the alleged owner of KickassTorrents, the world's largest torrent site. The 30-year-old Ukrainian was arrested in Poland today and is charged with criminal copyright infringement and money laundering. In addition, a federal court in Chicago has ordered the seizure of several KAT domain names.

>The 30-year-old Artem Vaulin, from Ukraine, was arrested today in Poland from where the United States has requested his extradition.

>In a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago, the owner is charged with conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and two counts of criminal copyright infringement.

>The complaint further reveals that the feds posed as an advertiser, which revealed a bank account associated with the site.

>It also shows that Apple handed over personal details of Vaulin after the investigator cross-referenced an IP-address used for an iTunes transaction with an IP-address that was used to login to KAT’s Facebook account.

>“Records provided by Apple showed that [email protected] conducted an iTunes transaction using IP Address 109.86.226.203 on or about July 31, 2015. The same IP Address was used on the same day to login into the KAT Facebook,” the complaint reads.

>In addition to the arrest in Poland, the court also granted the seizure of a bank account associated with KickassTorrents, as well as several of the site’s domain names.

>“In an effort to evade law enforcement, Vaulin allegedly relied on servers located in countries around the world and moved his domains due to repeated seizures and civil lawsuits. His arrest in Poland, however, demonstrates again that cybercriminals can run, but they cannot hide from justice.”

I believe that there will always be piracy, but in a much, much smaller scale.

It was just too easy even for normies, now only people who knows their shit will be able to torrent stuff.

DMCA doesn't care about private tracker tbqh. KAT was just causing too much damage to the jews.

How is this even possible?
>>
Fuck this. I was IN on private trackers since a decade ago with tvtorrents, bitgamer, and some others. They're all dead now and they were the last good ones so I just stuck with public trackers like Kat. I was the big time seeders who had 100+GB seedbox and racked up 1TB of seed credit for the community. Bitgamer was great and had the nicest, most mature community that actually cared about its scene uploads. I have no need to pirate games anymore since I make enough money for that, but I would never give a cent to the hollywood jews who want $30 for a fucking bluray movie.

I still have an account with blackcat gamers or whatever the fuck it was but where is it? I haven't even checked or looked but last I checked maybe 4 years ago it was a shit community with autistic owners who didn't know what they were doing. Most of the scene rips weren't there and the seed credits you got just didn't seem worth it to me after years of building up my cred on bitgamer.

It's a damn shame, I literally just downloaded a movie 2 days ago off kat.ph and now it's gone. Gotta find another place, this time I'll double down to spite the rich greedy hollywood jews.

Isn't it great how the U.S. Government bends over backwards to the elite hollywood jews and their precious IP? Yet when it comes to technological secrets, the Chinks just shamelessly steal it and sell it all within their own markets. Why? Because Hollywood has more power, and they love to ally with the Chinese lobby since the chinks buy up their movies as well.

There's literally 0 point in private trackers.
Afraid of the feds? Private trackers prevent you from using tor since by design, all your IPs are corroborated. If you use a VPN, they can just ask the VPN to release your IP. Do you really think even """logless""" VPNs don't know your IP? Even if they really were logless, the feds would either compel the operators to log YOU, or they would simply bug the server. Easy peasy.

At least public trackers let you access torrents through tor and then attempt to download through i2psnark. However, old torrents simply won't work.

You think intellectual property faggots aren't all over every single ptracker perhaps? If you can get in, so can someone paid to get in.

Then you have retarded shit like ipt who literally post their own torrents to other sites, mixing public and private swarms. Thanks to that, you get the same tracking and privacy as public torrents even if you use your private tracker ipt.

Interested in "quality" or looking for "rare" shit? You won't find anything of good quality in ptrackers because only popular shit (i.e. lowest common denominator-tier crap) is getting seeded (since that gives free good boy points unlike actual quality stuff). Rare stuff is actually also rarely on ptrackers in the first place. Sure, there are the odd one or two rare torrents on there but chances are you'll find the same shit as on any public tracker.

Bottom line is that you pay something (be it time - waiting for free good boy points; or money - paying for a seedbox or even for an invite if you're that much of a cuck) for effectively nothing.

Have you ever actually been on a private tracker? Sites like what.cd have enthusiasts, and you're thus more likely to find rare releases there because the people there care about the community (as well as their image there), which leads to rare and quality uploads. In addition, there are things in place such as .log files to ensure rips are done in high quality, something you can not expect from any public site. And this doesn't even get at the organization that you get given the Gazelle system that is in place at sites like those.

This is sadly true and I've been saying this for the past 4 years since the big boy private trackers went down. It's not even worth it.

What we need is a decentralized system. It's been talked about for years but never actually implemented. It's great and all these private trackers exist, but they'll be taken down soon and their run time is so short it doesn't give enough time to establish a large enough database like the old private trackers once did. It's equivalent to the feds nuking entire cities, and new ones springing up. They just take years to build back up before they're destroyed again and again.

I had over 1TB of content off bitgamer seeding everyday, accumulated over 5 years. Some time around 2010 I got paranoid and just used a seedbox which was better anyway since it helped me get my game rips up waaay faster and if anyone asked I would seed some older files. Then when it got shut down and Blackhat games or gizelle came along, I just said fuck it, because there was no way to transfer my files to their shitty sites and autists kept fucking up the old rips that were incompatible with mine. It would've taken me more years to build back what I established at the old trackers and I felt that it just wasn't worth it anymore.

Problem with pure decentralized systems :

1. Trust
2. Malware
3. Quality

Oh, and you can't take down any malware there because it's decentralized in the first place.

>>55673588
tl;dr the feds don't care about grandma torrenting death metal, they want to go after the people hosting the death metal torrent site
additionally, https://torrentfreak.com/ip-address-not-person-140324/

>You think intellectual property faggots aren't all over every single ptracker perhaps?
the biggest private music tracker has about 150k users and has been up for at least 7 years. the biggest movie tracker has been up for roughly as long and has about 35k users. why haven't they been taken down yet? what even is this point aside from fear-mongering?

>Then you have retarded shit like ipt who literally post their own torrents to other sites, mixing public and private swarms.
agreed, ipt is trash. quality private trackers do as much as they can to separate themselves from public trackers

>You won't find anything of good quality in ptrackers
lmao now you're reaching. define quality.

>Bottom line is that you pay something for effectively nothing.
so a bigger library than netflix, spotify, amazon, tidal, hulu, and itunes combined, with better organization, no drm, available in the best quality possible, is nothing? what the fuck do you want lmao
>>
>>55675223
ipt is a public tracker with a private frontend, effectively. There's even less point in going for ipt than actual private trackers.
>>
>>55675020
Every flac download i have ever gotten from public sites, have cue files with them.

>quality

>rare
Nice try. Never
oink has always, and will always be an /a/ quality circle jerk about their waifus, to what oinkers sit in all day in irc arguing about semetics.
>>
>>55675333
You can use web-of-trust systems: You can only get a referral to some content when both ends add each others as friends (alt: if one end is set to public and the other adds it as a friend). You can have transport and search via friend-of-friend through the network this way.

This means that if someone gives you bad content, you can simply unfriend them and it's effectively banned for you. You can have metanetworks such as channels and collections in a similar way.

That's basically what retroshare does.
>>
>>55675204
>have to seed 2847GB of data
This is what really turns me off to PTs. My life as a super leech was p cozy.
>all to be surrounded by people who have possibly the worst personalities in the world

>>
State private trackers
Buyable tokens for upload credit
Free leech torrents
Global free leech days/weekends

So are they throwing so much around?

So they can keep people in their community and not have it go back to a few hundred users again

So further more, private trackers offer nothing and are only a hassle on your downloading habits.
>>
>>55675340
>why haven't they been taken down yet?
Because it's significantly more profitable to keep it up while people are being sent DMCAs and the likes.

>so a bigger library [...]

Some sort of elitist type, usually these people have really big egos & are narcissist to some degree. They are overly aggressive & defensive, obsessed with torrents & the content, very 1-dimensional in that regard. Just overall not the kind of people you ever want to have to talk to, or get to know, or interact with on a regular basis.

Im dead serious, some of these people visit /g/ & other boards & you can easily spot them. They share some personality traits with other people obsessed & consumed with one specific thing, such as the weebs. I don't mean the person who occasionally watches an anime series, I mean the person who has anime pillows, has high quality anime digital media, injects anime into every aspect of their life. Even posting on any board, in any thread, they will find a way to include anime, even if its just images.

I think that you know the type of person I'm talking about, I think you have encountered them before.

ah yes soulseek. What a great program.

I used it for music for many many many years. The nice thing was finding a album you wanted, then browsing the persons collection realising you have the same taste and music and finding some new artists you never heard of.

Eventually the userbase got pretty exclusive - if you weren't offering stuff like zero day house, or had something the person wanted it was really hard get access to stuff.

Also pretty slow. I remember waiting for weeks to get a few albums because the guy wasn't online 24/7 and was only sharing at like 10kbps.

>>
>>55675794

Yeah fuckin eh.

The frustrating part is how PT's tend to encourage people to have huge buffers which is overly negative to the community since new folks can't get ratio.

So all these people sit there seeding the freeleech stuff getting next to none because the seedbox users are starving them.

In the end they all end up waiting for a site wide freeleech to grab as much shit as possible, then hope some of that is obscure stuff the seedboxes don't have.

Only thing good about PT's is the community is so concerned with status that they put in a ton of effort to have tons of good meta data on the stuff.

But if you're talking about the files with the little lock icon next to them, right click on it and look at the user info. Sometimes they'll have a little page that tells you what you can do to let them add you (allowing you to download from them).

No they definitely have rare shit you mongoloid. I used to use what until I forgot my login details and when I can't find something I want elsewhere I ask people I know have an account and they find it on what almost always.
And how is "bigger library" a fallacious argument? It's literally a quality. I know this wasn't in the post I quoted but I assume you're the same retard.
>>
>>55675333
It can be taken care by user rating and comments systems. A big reason why KAT was so popular was even normies could look at the ratings and comments easily and see which torrents were fake/shit and which are actually quality ones
>>

good luck with actually making that happen, if you pull it off then hats off to you but all you'll probably do is whine a bit then forget it until the next time someone posts something you don't like. I don't think there's enough people here who are immensely offended by anime to make an army out of, even though many of them are annoyed that they stray from their boards.

>>55677547
all bullshit
the ban reason was clearly faked
regardless of red text or not
most red text ban messages are in fact mod posts, they add the red text on their own (they are allowed to use html in their posts)
they do it for attention
the images you're spreading are fake trash
you will NEVER be banned for telling an anime spammer to fuck off a non-anime board or fuck out of a non-anime thread topic

First of all what is so difficult to DDG public trackers?

2nd of all Use a program to search multiple trackers to search any one thing, Simply add new ones and remove any that get into the fed spotlight from time to time.

Common now, I thought this was 4chan
>>
>>55677417
I do, the jap term for tech.

can you give the tracker link? play.bit doesn't work
>>
>>55675674

Dude I even used to be a daily uploader on KAT till yesterday. All we can do now is wait and see which public tracker emerges as the new replacement for KAT and migrate there

As for the general downloading, you could literally google the filename and find tons of places you could download it from

For me there are tons of DDL sites I could use, heck some of them also provide torrent download option

One thing the normies seem to ignore with all this netflix, youtube, spotify shit

Is they have algorithms that find you shit that is similar to watch you watch.

The normies are literally going to ruin the internet, they should never have been allowed to use it.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

When the great purge comes all the normies will say but you can watch it on netflix bro what are you talking about.

are you saying i can watch the my 1970's french heist movie on netflix?

lemme search that up oh whats that, its not capeshit and theirs no money in it for netflix so they don't have it

This shit will have a bleed on effect into every form of media, they wont make things purely for art but if netflix will pick it up.

What i'm saying is these shitty streaming sites will dictate what gets made and what doesn't.
>>
>>55675010
because american corporations think they can stop piracy by attacking it directly instead of offering consumers with a better product/service

work your way into other trackers through wcd, once youre in one its easy to get in to others
>>
>>55674583
How fucking young are you ?

Wait a few weeks and one of the other thousand of trackers will take kat's spot.

We had the same kind of pleb cryong when suprnova was closed, only to be replaced by mininova, replaced by thepiratebay, replaced in some mesure by kat.

And even before people were thinking that the end of Napster would be the end of mp3 downloads.
>>
>>55674749
This is quite funny if you consider that Poland laws on piracy are very easy going . if a policeman catches you selling pirates vids or games , he will take your stuff , however it will never be escalated any further . Nowadays pirates work in pairs so one will show you a list or a bunch of covers and you select which ones you want.Than he rings the other guy and tells him what to bring. The other guy comes after few minutes and gives the CDs to the first pirate. Therefore even if they are cached selling the police can only take the CDs that they are currently selling.
