C++ > C > irrelevant shit

there is no best, they have their own useful applications
>>
I'm learning C++ myself but there's always mixed opinions about OOP languages

OP wtf are you doing

Java is the one I find most useful these days.

Python is nice just to quickly test an idea out to see if it can work.

If Java fails me I use C++/Qt although it is often not worth the hassle as Java is always about 90% the speed of similar C++ code and that 10% is almost never needed in reality as there are other bottlenecks.

If you only have to support Windows then C# can replace Java for the most part although it tends to me a little slower than Java without any other real benefits.

Mind sharing how you learned Java?

These videos are excellent https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpP9FLMkNf556Ml_9Y9LeN67mQoBHZAAp

also these videos are good and free http://courses.caveofprogramming.com/courses/java-for-complete-beginners

I read Think Java which is a free ebook at http://greenteapress.com/wp/think-java/

Then the Oracle tutorials at https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/

Other good books are
>Java The Complete Reference
>Head First Java
>Thinking in Java
>Java for Dummies (although you might think it sucks it is actually a great book for a total beginner to programming)

I use IntelliJ IDEA as an IDE now but to begin with (the first few chapters in a book) do things in a simple text editor and compile at the command prompt with javac as it helps you get used to what is happening behind the scenes.

As you can see there is loads of great free resources for learning Java. IMHO it is a great place to get started with programming as it gives you a bit more power than Python which sucks for anything GUI and GUI stuff is fun. Plus Java means you can avoid all the more complicated shit like pointers, memory management and awful GUI libraries which are hard to get to grips with without a decent knowledge of C++ to begin with and like I said GUI is just more interesting than command line shit for a beginner.

fuckin lol

I've been learning Rust, it's great. Safe, reliable, easily concurrent, but still with excellent performance. You can use it in virtually any scenario
>>
>>55669464
Yeah Rust looks great as a replacement for C/C++ systems code. Wish it had some decent GUI bindings tho
>>
Does anyone use Golang? I currently use C/C++ and I want to know if it is worth learning it

Python cause it takes 5 minutes to put together a program that does what you want and you don't waste time reinventing the wheel.
