any BSD fags here? Have these three libarchive vulnerabilities been fixed in FreeBSD: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/06/23/libarchive_needs_patching_again/ Does the fact that they are not listed on https://www.freebsd.org/security/advisories.html mean they haven't been fixed?

Just switch to Linux already

after you switch to Windows ;)
this isn't a freebsd specific bug.

Upstream only fix on latest version, no backport patch exists (yet).
Not a problem if you're on rolling/unstable/testing distro.

i didn't say it was freebsd specific. freebsd _is_ affected because it uses the library.

how do i fix the bug in my freebsd system? recompile and reinstall the latest port of the library?

I tried installing openbsd once but I was hard with all the header and misc. questions about my system. I wish they had a GUI installer

Installing OpenBSD is about as easy as it can get, you just have to be able to read.
