what repair shop senpai
>>55656965
My family owns a repair shop, we see shit like this all the time.
We also get a bunch of stupid shit too.
>guy needs a HDD backup
>his pc doesn't recognize the HDD
>plug it into my computer running Fedora 23
>it's an ext2 drive
>back everything up and give it to him on an external HDD
Easy money
>>55657068
also
>work in repair shop as well
>guy comes in
>wants us to delete his emails
>what
>ok
>sure, we can do that
>1.09 million emails, wish i was joking
>ctrl+a delete
>ez $50
we told him "no thats stuff you can do" and he told us "but i dont want to"
such is life in repair shop located in the ghetto
I see people treating programmers as code monkeys but fucking repair shop sounds a lot like hardware monkeys.
Do you ever get a costumer that knows what he wants/needs ?
>>55657157
>costumer
>>55657157
not OP but rarely. its mostly people calling in or walking in saying they need their iPhone "LED" screen fixed or some ghetto ZTE or motorola phone repaired.
i remember i got a free desktop out of some one because they didnt want it anymore. they just took the HDD.
>>55657157
Sometimes we get stupid shit.
>guy wants a pc for flight sim
>talked to his friends about it
>needs a gtx970 and i7 6700k because he believes those will offer the best performance
>he's an old retired guy with no idea of overclocking
>try to convince him to do a more balanced build
>he refuses
Fucking hell, he even got an asus 970 and asus mainboard.
>>55657098
I work from home and get this shit all the time
Usually a single shortcut on their desktop stopped working and they need me to put it back
Ayy lmao I'm a computer specialist
>>55657228
so many times we run Malwarebytes and get thousands of viruses and adware detected. we get $50 too because thats a service charge
>>55656965
Are you in/around Gainesville FL? I feel like I know the person who owns that laptop and I haven't talked to him in like 6 years.

was he a based Polish nationalist?
>>55657339
Well he had a big Polish tattoo on his arm and bragged about all the weed he smoked often. Thats about all I remember
>>55656965
>mfw "upgraded" a customer from a dead i3 2120 to an a4 7300 last week
They went from a 500GB HDD to a 1tb hdd+240gb ssd though so they'll definitely feel the "upgrade"
>>55657098
Was it Hilary Clinton?
>>55657286

>full of fucking dust form most of the covers being removed
>cleaning it up
>take the side cover off
>find a...thing inside
>its a fucking cat.
>a mumified cat.
>quit job.
>>55656965
i work from home
>old mexican woman comes in
>hands me a stick of ram
>"recover the data off this please"
>just politely explained the difference between ram and storage
such is life where 80% of the population is mexican and over 30
>>55658826
Not OP, but it's 50F-65F everyday where I live.
>guy brings computer to repair
>leafs and dust in pc
>clean it up, search for viruses, hands over. Charge 40€
>another guy comes over
>wants his PC to run 24/7 and has power button tapped
>says he wants to disable num lock on startup
>"anon it's you can turn it off in the BIOS but there's no use"
>do shit for him, charge cash
>>55656965
>polish
Are you really all that surprised over the series of events took place, OP?
>>55661847
>>wants his PC to run 24/7 and has power button tapped
>>says he wants to disable num lock on startup
Something doesn't add up here.
>>55660887
Found a dead mouse in fried PSU once. Stank like hell.
>work at software company who provides support to clients who use our software
>charge $300/hr for general IT work so people dont fucking ask
>people still want to pay us that to set up printers and outlook
JUST
>>55662762
It's good money
snap is that a lenovo s10e. The hinge on my one is fucked too but it's still going strong
>2005
>bring my desktop into BB and have them check out a problem. Something wrong with random shutdown without warning.
>come back two days later to get it, noticed they deleted only the furry pics of Krystal(and background of sexy pose Krystal) back to XP meme background.
>Nothing changed, still shut down unintentionally. Take apart PC and shove it into closet.
>>55660950
How is el paso this time of year?
>>55662495
Op isn't a native english speaker and doesn't know how to spell taped? Or he can't quite articulate what he meant by "power button is tapped down"?
>>55665243
You fuck animals?
>>55665373
yes, but only on tuesdays (when my printer stops working)
oh yeah nigga
been waiting for this thread for a couple weeks
>we bare all
What did he mean by this?
>>55657098
50 Bucks? We pay up to 800 for easy stuff like that because the guys responsible for getting shit repaired doesn't know anything.
How many of you have had old people bringing in their laptops asking them to be updated to Windows 10 ?
>>55656965
Kurrrrwa
I work in a town of mainly old people. Fucking kill me.
All the failed Windows 10 upgrades were the worst, I made GREAT money out of it, but Christ are senior citizens the worst to deal with sometimes.
>Older Guy in his 50's comes in Monday to book a machine in
>Tell him since I'm the sole technician here that it'll be 4 or so days to get it done
>"Yeah fair enough" and leaves
>Come Wednesday morning he barges in furious saying why isn't his machine done yet
>Tell him I have about 30 other folks PC's to work on before I even get to look at his and I told him this when he signed the booking sheet.
>Yells for a good minute before I put his laptop back in his hands and he leaves
This happens more often than you'd think Jesus. They think that everything can be fixed within 10 minutes and it seriously gives me the shits. At least most people under 40 now understand that repairs/data transfer/recoveries/etc all take time.
>>55665243
>krystal
Ah, the beginning of us all
>>55658602
Fuck me an the ass can u hook me up for cheap bro?

>>55662495

>>55665360
I was talking about the discrepancy between "on 24/7" and "disable ... on startup"
