If I never used Linux should I get a ODROID-C2 or Raspberry Pi 3? I want to set up primarily as NAS for back up purposes and would like to have at least one HD and SSD each connected.
I know for $5 more the C2 offers better hardware, but on the other hand I'm sure Raspberry Pi has far more support and documentation.

Neither of those even have a SATA port, why the fuck would you need an ssd for USB 2.0

Get something with Sata.

Gonna have to go with low-power x86 for SATA, so far as I know. Intel has the J-series and AMD has the Athlon AM1. The J-series is much better with power usage but the APU is better for encrypted workloads like VPNs or similar that you might also run on your NAS/homeserver.
