Fucking morons.

I enjoy no updates anyway, update free is the way to be. My OS is always, fast, reliable and bug free.

Unless you're a /v/tard who REALLY need DX12, then there's nothing botnet10 can do that win7/win8.1withclassicshell can't.
>>
>>55640675
I upgraded to Windows ten right away. Personally, I find it's more user friendly than 8, and it's somewhere between 7 &8. If you're looking for that old XP feel, you're not gonna get it here. But It's still far easier to visualize and find your data in 10 than 8. As a consumer OS, it works just fine, but as a more developer-based OS, you're gonna have to draw your own opinions since I'm a chemistry junkie and not a code monkey.
>>
>>55643363
Btw, ridicule is wholly welcome as I recognize that I am, in fact, a tech tard.

Just install Windows 10 to a separate drive if you need your video game fix that bad.

That way you can stick to 8.1 or 7 and only use 10 when absolutely necessary.
>>
>>55640675
Never.
>>
Curious anon here.

What makes 7 inherently better? What can I do on 7 that I can't on 10?
>>
>>55643448
suck cocks
>>
>>55643429
Or quit pc gaming. New games aren't worth dealing with windows 10.
>>
>>55643448
Because seven ate nine, m8
>>
>>55643448
7 actually plays slightly older games better. Other than that you don't have to track down Microsoft Spyware.
>>
>>55643448
Choosing when or whether to receive updates, a decent UI, very little data collection, good drivers, no useless appzzz baked into the OS.
>>
>>55643448
Because windows 10 has a broken start menu search.

On 7 you can type part of the name of a program and hit enter immediately, and it will always launch the program.

On 10, if you don't wait for the results to load, it performs a bing search. Also, it will shuffle the results around. 7 has a stable search algorithm that never changes.

That said, dmenu on GNU/Linux is better than any start menu search.

Windows 10 is a meme
>>
>>55643482
Good drivers?

I think Windows 7 till Windows 10 can use the same drivers just fine.

>>55643687
Not that of a big deal for me, to be honest.
>>
>>55643792
They changed how drivers work in 8.1. 7 drivers work in 8 but not 8.1, and not 10.
>>
>>55643792
>I think Windows 7 till Windows 10 can use the same drivers just fine.
Then why are there countless stories of people running into massive driver problems after upgrading to Windows 10. Not all manufacturers were ready for the switch and it apparently still causes a lot of problems. Just a quick google of "Windows 10 driver problems" gets plenty of results of pissed off people.
>>
>>55643792
Also, there's the fact that windows 10 is Windows PRISM edition.
>>
>>55640675
You've seriously got like 1 week left.
>>
Yes. It's great. You can tell by the freetard butthurt.
>>
>>55640675
NOT really since win 10 doesn't offer significant performance boost and win 8.1 won't be discontinued till 2021.
If I would it'd be enterprise and something to remove all the telemetry remnants.
And would block all MS ip ranges in router firewall.
>>
>>55640675
Can you get enterprise like a free update?
>>
Does upgrading fuck your drivers? Any precautions I should take before the plunge to reduce the headache of getting it all to run smoothly?
>>
I love it. I don't see why people use other operating systems. The only complains people have are about tinfoil stuff. They can data mine my gaping asshole. I keep my privacy settings on I really could not give a shit if they read every file on my pc.
>>
>>55640730
That comes with the caveat that I won't get any performance upgrades...
>>
>>55640675
Yes because there's nothing scary about it, it's better than Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 and it's free.
>>
My mom and dad got pissed off with Windows 10 and moved back to 8.1 for the former and 7 for the latter soon afterwards. If my memory serves me correct, I don't think the OS plays nicelt with all the software they depend on.
>>
>>55643429
But why use Windows 10 when 7 does everything you want to do fine?
>>
>>55648142
Oh woops I misinterpreted your post as the opposite of waht it said.
>>
>>55640675
I tested it for CSGO and got around 3% worse performance compared to Windows 7.
I don't really care about other games, so DX12 is irrelevant to me.

For non games, it's pretty much the same, just with some more spyware and ads.

tl;dr no point

In W7 it can be turned off. Not so in Windows 10.

>thinking your OS somehow determines your intellectual capability

If you're not breaking the law, you'll be fine
>>
>>55648627

You seem to be pretty sure what your proprietary OS is doing behind the scenes.
>>
>>55648664
>there is hidden spyware because I say so

Why should I believe you?
Why should I believe that Linux doesn't have any? (No, realistically I can't inspect all the code myself and neither can you.)
>>
>>55648605
>7 has syware too.
Sure. Put it doesn't do anything unless you specifically give it right to.

Welcome to /g/ \o/

>>55648700

When you can't know, you assume the worst. Especially if it's microsoft's product.
>Why should I believe that Linux doesn't have any?
Hundreds of people review the code every day.
>>
>>55648655
yeah fuck the 4th amendment we don't need it
>>
>>55648720
>Hundreds of people review the code every day.

Hundreds of people review Microshit code too. It doesn't mean anything.

I still have no reason to trust any of them.

>>55648765
When those hundred people don't belong to the same organization and have completely different intentions, it does.
