Just opened my new hyper 212 evo for a long overdue replacement of my stock fan and found that it had this place on it. Will this affect the heatsink's operation enough to try to RMA it, or will the thermal paste take care of it?

Thermal paste is made to fix stuff like that, but I don't know if it's too deep.
I'd try it, OP

all of these copper heat pipe coolers have defects on the bottom. they don't really make an appreciable difference as long as it still sits flat. Very minor imperfections can be smoothed with high grit sand paper. Nicks like that can pretty much be ignored. it's maybe 1-2% of the total surface area. Won't matter.
>>
That's completely normal...
>>
Do faggots think even if it had a real scratch on one heat pipe there would be a measurable difference?
>>
This is the exact point of thermal paste, to fill in the (usually tiny) gaps between heat spreader and the heat sink, the only diffrence here is that the gap isn't so tiny, but it will cause no noticeable problems difference. Maybe a degree difference in that specific %1 of the surface area.

This. Also it's near the outside, not even right over the die. Don't worry about it. Maybe use slightly more paste.

Sounds reasonable and that's what I was thinking, but I wanted a second opinion. Thanks

This is what thermal paste is for OP, nothing weird.
>>
>>55625999
How do you mix up fan and heatsink?
>>
>>55625999
I hope you dont install that to your processor OP, looks like that shit is going to explode

O my god
