I have plenty of money, but I am patient and frugal. I have seen people making 6 figures live paycheck to paycheck because they spend their money on the latest crap for no reason.

Because most people don't need 4k monitors. I'm really glad that regular people are stupid and fell for the 4k meme, you can build a fairly decent 1080p gayman rig for almost nothing now.

4K is still shit for gaming as most PC games today are either indie garbage that would look the same being shown on an 80's era Zenith TV or ports so bad that they can't hit 30FPS with flagship CPU and vidya cards.

With 1080p, the hardware doesn't shit itself and you can get monitors that turn 144mhz refresh rates.

really 16:10, 1920 x 1200 is the sweet spot. my old monitor was 1920 x 1200 and it was the perfect amount of space. just to bad they don't make 144hz 16:10 screens. well at the time i got my benq i couldn't find any.

Don't have to, I'm using 1280x1024 5:3. Justification is that the monitor (HP vs17e) was free, and has decent speakers built in.

Being obsessed with a sports team is healthy because it motivates you to become like the team by doing sports, being energic and /fit/. Being obsessed with anime grills just shows the world how isolated you really are because you can't be social enough to hang out with other human beings. Anime isn't real, what isn't real can be perfected, you will think your waifu is perfect and no other real females can be just like her. That's why you are frowned upon, you can't leave your little perfect world. (Sorry for bad english xD)

You seem to have missed the point. Why do I need even more screen real estate? How is 1920x1080 not enough for the tasks that I do? 800x600 used to be a large enough resolution because no one was doing anything that required more.

Why would people not working with 4K video need a 4K monitor? Literally 99.9% of the things we see on the internet are below 4K, almost all below 1080, why the fuck would I need something even bigger?

If I need more screen space, I can just get another monitor which would be even more useful than just one higher res monitor.

That's my point ding dong. What exactly am I unable to have on the screen at the same time with a single 1080p monitor? I do it all the time and it's easy as hell.

And I don't see how having a single 4K monitor would ever be better than having two 1080 monitors for the purposes of multitasking could ever be better.

enjoy your botnet and cpu usage while keyboarding, you moron

if only autocorrect corrected your stupidity

I have two 2560x1600 displays with a smaller display above each. All of them are 16:10.

Mother of god.

>How do you justify having a non 4K monitor in 2016!

I don't have any need for one, why would I?

>Muh more screen space!

I have plenty of screen space with just a single 1080p monitor, even more with my dual 1080p monitors.

>W-Well just because you don't need it doesn't mean you have to freak out about it!

I presented my excuse. I explained how your reasoning is not a solution for me. Get over it. Your argument is the same as going "Why don't you have 32GB of RAM?"

Because almost no one needs more than 8GB. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
>>
>>55602153
some people do real work on a 4k display, you idiot
gaming isn't all there is to do on a fucking machine, believe it or not

Meanwhile NASA landed on the moon using nothing but mere calculators.
Linus Torvalds wrote the world's most successful kernel on a 386 and a single CRT monitor.
Ada Lovelace didn't even have a computer yet still programmed ON PAPER.

Good for you. I have 16GB and I've only ever come close to hitting 80% when leaving 20+ programs open and 80+ tabs in Firefox

>>55608389
Except 1080 isn't fucking one pocket idiot. And I've already explained that in my use case, I've never needed more screen space than two 1080 monitors have provided me, and that having two medium sized 'pockets' is more useful to me than having one large 'pocket'

Strawman something else baka.

16:10 is widescreen.
>>
>>55608438
Well the fuck would I ever get closer to 100%? I explained the absolute max scenario in my use case having one reached me to 80%

It's not going to randomly increase more.
>>
>>55608447
Yes, and in my metaphor, 8GB is the standard that everyone needs. 4 pockets. And what you're saying to me is, "hurr durr, but what if you fill up all four of your pockets, bet you wished you sprung for five then!!"

Yeah, and if you managed to fill up all five six would be nice. You feel up 12 then 13 would be nice. However, unless you have good reason to think you'd ever even remotely come close to filling up six pockets, there's nothing wrong with having four and sure as shit no reason to have 12.
>>
Absolutely love my 1080p 200fps... as opposed to plebk at sucksty fps

16:10 is something companies blindly waste money on, that's why they're so expensive. companies do waste lots of money
>>
>>55607992
I just watched Cowboy Bebop on my 2560x1600 display. 16:10 is much better than 16:9 for 4:3 content.

Mine is a 1920x1200, just upgraded from a 1680x1050 display I've had for six years. What monitor do you use?
>>
My 16:10 dell monitor from late 2007 works great, It looks like shit compared to new monitors but it still works. I'm waiting for a ips 1440p 144hz montior that isn't a total ripoff

I have two Dell 3007WFPs and a smaller screen above each. They are early business class IPS screens.
>>
Because I like playing at 120 fps without having bloody SLI 1080s
>>
>>55608655
I have the 2709wfp and I use one of the newest ips 27" monitors for work and the colours on the new ones are amazing. The old dell monitors are good for budget but not good by todays standards.
>>
Currently using a 3200×1800 screen, the next monitor I buy will be 4K

I don’t play video games though.
>>
>>55608665
I like the colors on mine, they are better than any TN panel I have seen.

The one annoying thing about them is that they only have one DL-DVI each. I have one of them connected to my GNU/Linux host and my GPU that I have passed through to a Windows 7 VM, so I had to get a DL-DVI KVM switch. I also had to get a DL-DVI to displayport adapter for one of the displays.

So GNU/Linux is not as good as Windows because my monitor only has one port?

I don't see the logic here.

Exactly. ;)

Yeah kind of. I mean it's just a waste of money for a difference you can't even notice. 1050 or even 720 is plenty enough
>>
>>55608333
>Because almost no one needs more than 8GB. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Your OS (as far as I know, any modern OS) will use unused RAM to cache files from your filesystem, improving overall system responsiveness. So even if you don't "need" 32 gigs, you can certainly benefit from it, quite noticeably.
